Job purpose
• Transfer pricing compliance and advisory for the Group
• In the areas of compliance and governance, develop and manage tax affair of Axiata Group Berhad (AGB) and perform management oversight of its subsidiary companies with the objective to maximize value to shareholders based on sound tax planning which is in compliance to the law.
• Work closely with counterparts in the Operating Companies (OpCos) based on an allocated portfolio (subject to change from time to time), in managing the tax affairs, formulating/refining tax policies, developing tax strategies and enhancing the value.
• Take on advisory capacity across all business units and legal entities to ensure tax efficiency is optimise through effective tax planning, advisory on M&A activities, contract reviews, transfer pricing initiatives and addressing potential tax risks.

• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies in carrying out job duties.
• Make decisions regarding administrative matters within the scope of the role, seeking approval from Head of Tax and/or GFC, when necessary.
• Prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to ensure deadlines are met.
• Manage resources efficiently and effectively to accomplish assigned tasks and responsibilities.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, providing information, updates, and reports as required.
• Provide accurate and timely reports on job-related activities and achievements as required.

Key accountabilities
• Assist to develop tax related operational goals, policies, plans, and budgets to meet stakeholders' needs effectively.
• Establish and regularly review controls, offering tax advice to maintain the company's financial health.
• Present tax analyses and recommendations to Head of Tax for informed decision-making
• Cultivate and maintain corporate relationships with financial communities and stay abreast of tax policy changes affecting the company's interests.
• Lead, develop, coach, and motivate staff to ensure competence and performance excellence.
• Foster a collaborative working environment within and across divisions to attain key corporate goals and initiatives.
• Collaborate with peer groups to develop the overall company strategy, ensuring alignment with divisional objectives while being accountable for divisional strategy congruence with corporate goals.
Key results area
• Compliance: Ensuring transfer pricing compliance for Axiata Group Berhad and its Malaysian and overseas subsidiaries, able to work with external tax agents and advisor on tax cases/investigations. Implement new tax processes and policies or make changes to comply with new/update of tax rules. Management oversight for the OpCos.
• Consulting: Work with internal business functions, subsidiaries and associate companies in an advisory capacity across all of the business units and legal entities (including advisory on contract reviews and cross borders issues, due diligence projects and transfer pricing initiatives) to ensure compliance to local tax rules and optimizing the Company’s overall tax position.
• Transactional: Advise on key transactions or M&A projects, cross border projects or other new business initiatives to ensure tax compliance, addressing tax risks and optimizing tax position.
• Governance: Introduce/refine policies and limits of authorities, standardize implementation for all subsidiaries for effective and operational tax efficiency.
Academic Qualification:
1. Minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting/financial or business related discipline. Professional qualifications (CPA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA etc) will be an added advantage
2. Minimum 10 years’ experience and exposure to taxation, financial accounting and other related finance works including 2 years exposure to tax compliance/advisory at Big-4 firm.
3. Rich working experience in all aspects of tax - proven track record of MNC experience and success stories/achievement, particularly in driving and implementing transfer pricing projects
